Fay Apartment Preservation Project

(06/24/2009) -

June 24th marked a major milestone in the Fay Apartment Preservation Project when the Cincinnati City Council passed the loan request and tax abatement that was submitted by Wallick-Hendy Development. The approved loan request will allow Wallick-Hendy Development to move on to the next stage of the proposed rehabilitation of the entire property.

Originally built in 1962, Fay Apartments underwent a moderate rehabilitation in 1986. The proposed rehab will reduce the unit count from 893 to 703 and include:

  • Interior and exterior improvements to all units
  • Security upgrades, including the construction of a Gatehouse
  • 36 handicapped accessible units
  • New playground areas for children

The Fay Apartment Preservation will be the largest "Green" project in the United States and Affordable Housing.

Thank you to Dave and Brian Hendy for being the driving force behind this project for the last three years!
