The Wallick Companies built Griggs Village in 1972 under the HUD 236 Program. Located in the Franklinton area of Columbus, it is a 44-unit community of one-bedroom apartments. The community is made up of 6, one-story buildings on a two-acre site.
The renovation include expanding the apartments from 379 square feet to 650 square feet, and completely renovating the interior of each unit. This included: new floors, kitchen cabinets, doors, bathroom vanity and sink, and all new kitchen fixtures and appliances.
Twenty percent of the apartments are designated for people or households with an extremely low income — 35% or below of the area median gross income (AMGI).
The Franklinton Area Commission supported this project.
