New Program Grows Green Initiative
The Wallick Companies is expanding its “green” initiative
with the creation of its Evergreen Materials™ program. Evergreen
Materials™ creates a formal process for determining product standards
and green buying requirements, also called Environmentally Preferable
Purchasing (EPP).
In addition to reducing negative impacts on the environment, the program
will also increase Wallick’s buying power. For example, instead
of various communities specifying various toilets or appliances, there
will be one set of specifications for each item, all of them green —
environmentally friendly.
Examples of materials to be sourced through the Evergreen Materials™
program include:
• Plumbing
• HVAC
• Flooring
• Paint
• Cabinets and countertops
• Appliances
• Lighting
• Windows
• Doors
• Shingles
Other
materials will be added as more “green” products and services
are identified, and as future innovations occur.
“We
see the addition of Evergreen Materials™ as a natural extension
of our work to be responsible ambassadors to our industry and our environment.
Additionally, common specifications will add significant value from
an economic and human resource perspective,” said Wallick CEO
Tom Feusse. “It will make maintaining inventory and staff training
more efficient and create economies of scale for purchasing.”
The
creation of Evergreen Materials™ is one of Wallick’s nine
key business priorities for 2010.
