Wallick-Hendy Properties Going Green
Renovations at two Wallick-Hendy Properties are underway using environmentally-friendly,
sustainable building and renovation methods. With these projects, Wallick-Hendy
Properties becomes the second firm in the nation to renovate properties
under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Mark to Market
Green Initiative.
Eco-Village,
a 60-family town home development in Fostoria, OH; and St. Aloysius, a
48-unit, senior housing development in downtown Covington, KT will receive
the following green upgrades:
- New
Energy Star-rated appliances
- Low
VOC and recyclable kitchen cabinets
- Low
VOC and recyclable carpeting
- Low
E glass windows
- Low
flush toilets
- Low
flow faucets in kitchens and bathrooms
- Integrated
pest management systems
- Additional
insulation
- Recycling
programs for residents
- Compact
fluorescent light bulbs in all lighting fixtures
- A
playground using recycled materials at Eco Village
- Wireless
utlity and atmosphere monitoring devices that tarck upgrades for HUD
In
addition, all residents will receive free training on using environmentally
friendly cleaning products.
